Week of March 19 - Overivew of ALL Week!

Monday we finished the quiz we began on Friday. Many of you have finished but I still have 5 students to complete this, if you were not here please see me to complete the quiz.

Tuesday, we began the Frequency portion of our Unit 6. First we completed a Do what about finding percentages, which we will use to find relative frequencies. Then, we completed a smart board lesson on creating two-way tables to show 2 variables and how they connect together or correlation to show the portions of a whole with relative frequency.

Wednesday, we spent some time looking at relative frequency and analyzing the data based on the relative frequency.

Coach Example: we looked at this individual first, then in small groups, and then we discussed as a class.

Group work on 1-4 Wednesday and 5 on Thursday

Thursday we will complete our conversation on relative frequency and complete a 5-question packet. Then, we will take one last look at equations of trend lines, and how we can analysis the data by using the slope and y-intercept of the equation. We will call this Linear Models.

                                      Top of class notes!

Classwork packet: We looked at each one once everyone attempted to answer the question!

Friday we will complete a quiz on Frequency tables and linear Models.

Wednesday, March 14

Today we began to lable our trend lines by determining the equations.

We started class with a bellwork activity pictured below:

We took notes and looked at an example of finding an equation of a trend line. Below are pictures of the handout used for the example analyzed in class and a picture of the notes we placed on the back of the sample.

This is a great link that we will use in class to talk about the formulas for finding the equations.

Tuesday, March 13

Today we completed a lesson on drawling lines of best fit.

We took notes posted below.

Then we completed an exit slip, too

Week of March 12

Monday: We will be completing the last round of Explore Testing. Then we will be going over your Unit 5 Assessment and Quiz from Friday.

Tuesday: Using Scatter plots will will be drawing lines of best fit for the data given.

Wednesday: We will be using the lines drawn to identify and name them with an equation in slope-intercept form.

Thursday & Friday: We will spend these days analyzing the data based on the equation of the line drawn, the data given, and the trend if it were to continue. We will be summarizing the data based on all the information we are given.

Thursday, March 8

Today our learning target was to interpret the patterns of correlation in context of the data.

Finished up the Graphic Organizer from yesterday during bellwork

We reviewed all the correlations/associations and what we need to look for with Scatter Plots on a Powerpoint slides 2-7 were given to the students and they took notes and underlined key information in those slides. The notes and slide are picture below.

Then the students completed a graded classwork paper/Exit Slip. (See picture below)

Wednesday, March 7

Today's learning target was; I can describe patterns in the plotted points such as clustering, outliers, positive or negative association, and linear or nonlinear association and described the pattern in the context of the measurement data.

We completed a matching activity in groups to identify the types of patterns seen on scatter plots. Afterwards we discussed the findings and labeled on the smart board. We then created a graphic organizer to use as a study tool.

Tuesday, March 6

Today we worked in groups to discuss and analyze scatter plots.

First we completed a do what printed below.

We discussed the Do What prompt and predicted the type of graph they though we would be looking at today.
Next we continued to look at graphs in an envlope on the table. We discussed the relationship between the data on the x-axis and the data on the y-axis.

Todays, target was to be able to plot points on a scatter plot and explain the relationship of the data and explain the meaing of the point in context of the problem.

Week of March 5-9

Well, we started of the week with NO Monday due to snow!

I know some of you are very sad about that ;-)

The rest of the week will look like this:

Tuesday: Scatter Plot analysis- look at scatter plots and identify variables. We will also practice graphing ordered pair onto scatter plots. We will do this in a grouping activity.

Wednesday: Continue analysis of scatter plots and identifying terms about the pattern of the graphs.

Thursday: Interpreting scatter plots and the correlation/associations in terms of the graph's data shown.

Friday; Continue Friday's lesson with a graded Exit Slip as a quiz!
