Hello Students! Sorry I could not be there today, Justus woke EARLY this morning with the stomach virus. Therefore in order for us to move on with solving equations I need for you to do some work while I am out today! I know and have confidence that you will all be on your best behavior and that I will see your work to the following instructions when I return Friday.
First read all the instructions of this post.
Second, you will need to have a pencil and a piece of notebook paper. I want you to record and take notes on the following website:
- Look at the first 3 examples ONLY! These are two-step equations.
- * Think about this, yesterday we looked at one-step equations, so we are only adding one more step. SO you are simply applying two different equality properties to solve for the variable.
Third, watch the video tutorial- This is optional, if you are confident that you know how to solve the two-step equations then you may skip this step.
Link for video:Optional link that is helpful:
Fourth, solve the practice problems and check your answers, by this I mean put the values you find for your variable back into the original equation and solve. Is the equation true; are both sides equal?
Write these on the paper you have then solve and check the equations.
Lastly, you do have four homework problems and if there is time you may work on them now, in class. Please complete numbers 10-13 on the same paper from last night. The one you completed 1-9 on. I will check both of these assignments Friday.
Quiz tomorrow on one-step and two-step equations!
